I’m sure that at some point of your life you might have felt depressed Does the world you live in seem washed out, grey and colorless? What you need is a healthy dose of positivity, but the thing is, not many of us can just conjure it out of thin air. We need guidance and whole lot of help to use the power of the mind to add color to our life and achieve new goals.
The mental state of the human being is the determinant, which will decide where anyone will be in life. It affects their behaviour, their attitudes and their outlook – which means it determines practically every aspect about you and me. The difference between a successful individual and one who seems to be caught in the cycle of failures is their mental state. We determine the perception of our own reality, and creativity, ingenuity and intelligence all come from the power of positive thinking.
The issue here is our conscious and subconscious mind working together. The conscious mind filters our experiences down to the subconscious, which then drives the emotional vehicle within our body. Breaking that image and steering the subconscious out of this path to certain failure is difficult – especially when we are contending with years of built up repression and bad attitudes.
You know you can do something if you put your mind to it. But what does that maxim even mean? How do you ‘put your mind to it’? Sometimes concentrating too hard can give you a headache. You get creative blocks, you come up blanks and at the end of the day, you throw your hands up in exasperation and curse who ever had thought up the saying. But wait. What if I told you there is a way you can train to use your mind for specific purposes, that you can shape your mind however you want – use your mind powers to get what you want.
Imagine the scenario: You have to cram for an exam that’s barely 24 hours away. Your books are piled higher than Mount Vesuvius and look about ready to topple onto you. Stress levels build up and you hear your heart thumping to a funeral drum beat hard in your chest. You start to sweat, despair sets in and you see your whole education and money spent flash before your eyes. Images of begging in the gutter drinking moonshine come to mind and suddenly your body warns you of an impending overload and system crash.
Who doesn’t? I mean what is this article talking about? Success should not be measured by massive capitalists’ terms but rather in terms of what we value in our lives, things that are beyond materialistic notions. Being able to walk to the shop without gasping at exorbitant prices is also a measure of success. Objectives should never be set by external parties and they should never get muddled within the pool of invaluable advice.
Success is a battle that you should enter with your own terms and we should all crave success now matter how insignificant it may seem. Being able to conquer an obstacle little by little and day by day builds character in all of us and allows us to grow as a person. This should be one of the important reasons why we should all crave success. It is not a question about money or power, but the growth of the human spirit and empowerment over mind and body – as well as encouraging personal development and making sure that the soul is constantly evolving and bringing excellence in every corner of our existence.
Are you a ‘rising star’ or a ‘snoozer’? Because there are two basic personality types where motivation works in two different directions and have far reaching implications for your mental health. At the biological or physical level, everyone has developed both ‘away from’ and ‘toward’ motivation. Away from pain, discomfort and stress and toward pleasure comfort and relaxation. These 2 methods are opposite ways of getting motivated, but both can be beneficial to use, depending up the situation.
But one or other style tends to dominate and make for a personality type. Well, which one are you?
The person who struggles to get up in the morning until they see a mental image of the boss yelling at them and threatening to fire them has an away from motivation style called the ‘snoozer’ for short. This personality type takes a break is when uncomfortable. When choosing their friends they will pick people who don’t upset or bother them, and they will not make any career move until they are totally frustrated with their current situation. They keep away from that which they don’t want!
