In modern times, mechanists found that they could isolate and synthetically produce the natural chemicals in plants and patent the synthetic reproduction in order to make money from these pharmaceuticals.
So, in the end, the mechanists stole from the vitalist camp.Did the vitalists win the battle in the end?This obviously hasn’t really had any effect because the mechanists or allopaths the dominant force in today’s medicine.
The vitalistic believers are still out there helping people, it is just that they are hidden from the mainstream.
