Help Your Gums to Stay Healthy and Avoid Expensive Office Treatments

gingivitis

I guess this article would be classified as a review of the hydro floss oral irrigator based on personal observation and use. This is a tool that should be talked about.

At one point, my dentist and her assitant hygienist wanted to convince me that something had to be done about my gingivitis problems. They seemed very strong and even a bit forceful that I really needed this treatment.

Their plan involved something called a ‘scaling and root planing’. This is also referred to as a SRP.

Hearing this did not put a smile on my face. It just didn’t sound like it was something that I wanted to go through.

I was further unnerved upon hearing the assistant say that she would use nifty tools that she had special training to use in order to reach deep under my gums to remove a build up of debris called calculus (tartar). She would also make the surfaces smooth so that it would not be easy for the tartar to return.

This procedure appeared to be even worse than I first imagined. It was no comfort to hear her say that she could numb my gums up so that I wouldn’t feel a thing!

It seemed to me that it was going to be a bit painful when the meds left my system. This was not the kind of life experience that I would remember fondly.

The dentist’s helper was very firm that if I didn’t accept their treatment plan that they can not accept responsibility for what might happen to my teeth. I needed to signify that I understood that by signing a waiver. Could things get any worse?

Candidly speaking, I imagined that I was becoming the victim of some slick marketing tactics. It was hard for me to see the request to sign a waiver as anything more than a trick.

Then there was the item that pushed me over the edge a bit.The dentist’s assistant said that it would be in my best interest to start right away. She wanted to do this instead of my regular cleaning routine.

The argument certainly seemed agreeable. It sounded as if insurance was a big factor. If I chose to get the regular and standard cleaning done, my insurance could choose to not pay for the advanced treatment in the future.I strongly believed that I needed to think this over before I could commit to what they were asking.

There was a voice in my mind that was very strongly opposed to going through with this new protocol, so I said no.Strangely enough, the waiver was never mentioned again after that.

The entire predicament seemed very surreal to me.I felt that their HAD to be another way to heal my gums.

I learned that someone I was familiar with had this treatment done to her.She confided that the outcome was not good in her opinion.

I searched around for an answer.I ran into the hydrofloss.I ordered one.

I was very hopeful when the package was left on my doorstep. I knew that I was supposed to receive an instructional video with my Hydro Floss but it wasn’t in the package.

I sent off a note requesting that they send me the missing video.I did not have any more issues after that and shortly received the video in the mail.I was absolutely excited after viewing the video.

I believed that this tool was going to help me.I found myself utilizing it often each day.

Over five months had passed by the time I revisited the dentist. I was very happy, based on how they reacted.

This was the same doctor and assistant that had looked at my gums previously. Each agreed that there was a vast improvement. They said that I would not need that scaling and root planing treatment afterall.

You can probably understand that I was elated to hear this good news. I still use the Hydro Floss irrigator daily, except when I am out of the country or my home town.

If you have been wondering if the HydroFloss is really worth it, let me tell you: In my opinion, it really is worth it! My enthusiasm is based simply on the my experience.
