Personal Development

What if I don’t change?
We’ll work together with you until you get the results you want. But remember you need to ‘want to’ change. The program is suitable for most adults. It asks that participants think hard about their life and will challenge individuals on a personal basis.

What if I start Path to Personal Strength and realize I don’t like it?
First of all, we have made it so that you can undertake Module 1 with no obligation to complete the rest of the program. In effect, you can try Module 1 to get a feel for the program. If you complete your first assignment within 30 days, we will prepare and send you your own Personal Life Plan. If you do not want to continue, just let us know and we will cancel your enrolment. We will email you or call you to see how satisfied you are.One of the major objectives of the programme is personal development and life-long learning. Our vision is Shaping the better future for mankind by developing effective and socially responsible individuals and organisations. All activities are in one way or another aimed at personal development of the students. Students are given ample opportunities to develop their potential.

How soon can I expect to experience the results I want?
Quality human personal development is a process that takes time  it is not a quick fix. It is an unfolding of who you really are. True change comes from: Furthermore, the ‘journey’ is just as important in the personal development process as the ‘outcomes’. The Path to Personal Strength programs delivers all of this in one package. In any situation where you feel that your studies have been strongly affected it is always a good idea to discuss it with your unit chair first so they can be made aware of the situation.

Do I have to sign a contract?
No you don’t have to sign anything. You are free to stop at anytime. I ask that you initially make a three month commitment so that you gain the maximum benefit. I even offer you a Guarantee.

Can I apply for special consideration more than once a year?
Yes. Although special consideration is not an option you would want to rely on heavily for ongoing issues. Students can discuss ongoing support options with counsellors, DUSA Student Rights Officer or with the Disability Resource Centre . In general if something has happened that you think is serious and has affected your ability to do your work, complete assessment tasks or prepare exams, then it would be wise to seek help. That’s hard to answer because so much depends on you and what you are trying to achieve. I have a client who was having a particular problem with the staff in her business. After three sessions she understood how to permanently solve her problem. Personal development usually takes longer. I have a client who has 2 one hour sessions per week and has been doing so for 3 years. This is a business client who is also very focused on his own personal development. Meaningful life changes take time.

Q15. Can you accommodate someone who wets the bed?
A15. Each bedroom has a least one bed with a fully waterproof mattress and we have plenty of waterproof mattress covers for other beds. It is helpful if we know in advance of any likely difficulties so that we can plan ahead and avoid embarrassment.No. All applications for special consideration must be made through your faculty. Issues such as extensions can be discussed with your unit chair however anything else must be formalised through a faculty request. One of the major objectives of the programme is personal development and life-long learning.
